Exploring different aspects of Personal Branding

Expanding the 5/13/09 post re: personal branding (Adding Value) : I see (at least) three areas where we can investigate personal branding. These are separated more to clarify our thoughts and efforts, than to say all are equally important, or even attainable.

[a] building MY BRAND - who I am, what I offer, my guiding convictions - (we'll all need some introspection here),

[b] EXPLAINING to employers and clients my brand, and using their conceptual framework to demonstrate the value of my being a part of their team,

[c] Establishing an ARCHITECTURE of personal brands; a clearing-house or common ground for (credibly) assessing the brands of others. This is likely the hardest area, due to regional factors and lack of a generic rating that can be assessed vis-a-vis that of others.

Think of epinions.com or the product-ratings at Amazon.com - the large user community is what makes it possible through having identical products to rate. Since we are unique individuals and localized to our community, it is a challenge to produce a comprehensive and useful guide for employers and clients - especially those who are not yet acquainted with us.

I plan to explore this more in the future; your comments are welcome (and sought) as always.
